1.2 – My Side

What did I do? Why couldn’t I have told her the truth about my parents arranging my marriage? Why couldn’t I run away from this? Run away with her?

All these questions ran through my head. I picked up my phone and called her. “Hi! This is Belle! I’m not here right now, but leave a message after the beep.” *beeeep*

I took a deep breath, “Belle, hey, I know you probably don’t want to talk, but there’s something important I need to tell you. It’s really really important. Call me back.”

I sighed and laid back on my bed.

All I dreamed about was her, nothing but her beautiful face, her laugh, her smile, how we met. I would do anything and go anywhere to marry her.

“This is a really weird dream, a really, really weird dream. “ I looked at my watch, “It’s Tuesday, Belle is always at the park Tuesday afternoons. “ I looked around and it looked familiar, right down the street was the park.

“Belle!” I ran towards her and she looked at me funny.

“James?” her mouth dropped, “James how did you get here? It’s 2211!”

I stopped in my tracks, “How did you get here then?”

She made her cute annoyed face, “I hit my head on the toilet.”

I snorted, “Seriously?”

“Yes!” She rolled her eyes at me.

I pulled her into an embrace, it felt like home.“I called you last night, I needed to tell you something, but first things first… You’re pregnant?!?” I was still hugging her, but then she pushed me away.

“Yes, I’m pregnant. It’s yours, because I didn’t cheat on you. Unlike you who cheated on me with Susie Cromwell.” She crossed her arms.

“And that’s what I wanted to tell you. I said that because I didn’t want to tell you that my parents were planning an arranged marriage, I didn’t want to wait till the last minute to tell you that we couldn’t be together forever, they told me that day when the wedding was supposed to be. When I went home that night all I could think about was running away with you. You are my Juliet.” He smiled slightly.

“Are you serious? You were always faithful to me?” Her eyes widened.

I nodded quickly, “Yes, yes. Belle, I want to marry you. Will you be my dream wife?” I got down on one knee.

“Oh my Berry! Yes, I will!” Her eyes lit up and I could see tears welling up.

“Well I don’t exactly have a ring, I found this in my pocket, and it’s plastic. I’ll get you a better one. I promise.” I smiled at her and looked in her eyes. “What are you going to name it?”

“I don’t know yet. My friend Selena could help me with that.”

I frowned a bit, “Will I have some input too?”

Belle smiled at me, “Of course, it’s just I want it to have a name that will fit in here. I’ll get the names and we can choose together.” She put her hand on my cheek.

“You also need to explain why everyone looks colorful, why your hair and eyes are white, and why I look blue.” She laughed, “Trust me I will, let’s go to my place.”

Gen 1.1 – My Berry Sweet Accident

Selena, the blue haired girl, recommended that I go to town hall and explain my situation. After hours of signing papers and having the town’s officials talk to me and explain stuff to me they finally granted me a house. Since I was the daughter of one of the founding families they thought it would be best to give me a house.

The next morning I would start a garden, at least something will be like home.

Upon stepping inside the house I noticed that it was all white, everything. It looked like a white can of paint exploded in my house. One day I would brighten it up, add some color, one day.

All I could think of was James, and my family. What were they thinking? I couldn’t have just poofed and ended up here. That doesn’t make sense. No need to strain my brain this late at night, I could use some sleep.

I dreamed of being back home, something that I doubt will happen. And then I became nauseous again. I should go to the doctor before gardening today. Hopefully the doctor doesn’t think I’m crazy.

And so I spent the night with my head in the toilet waiting for 7:00 to roll around, which is when the open clinic opens at the hospital, Selena told me. My body ached all over and I was sweating. I felt like I was dying.

So I went to the hospital and the doctor told me that I was probably experiencing the side effects of time travel, and I was also pregnant. I told him sternly, “There is no way. Run another test!” And he did, and it was still positive. First time traveling to this, and now I’m pregnant. And the only man who could be his father is James.

I went to the park to see if I could find Selena, but while I was searching I heard two guys calling me, “Hey Belle! Over here! We want to meet you.”

They ended up being brothers. Merlot Pinot Noir (here) and Huckleberry Pinot Noir (here). We talked for a bit and I told them how I got here and they told me about them. And then they asked me if I wanted to see the movie Battle: Los Berreles with them sometime. “Yeah, sure.”

“We’ll meet you at the Pistach’ on Saturday! Be there!”

“Okay, well I have to go home. I’ve got a garden to start.” I smiled at them as I got up.

It was nice meeting some of the locals, especially cute ones. But nothing relaxed me more than working in the garden. Back home I worked with my grandmother at her house and I always wanted my own garden. Might as well start now.

I stood in what would become the nursery and whispered to my tummy, “Hey little one, I know you’re in there. We’re going to have a bumpy road ahead of us, but we will get through it. Just buckle up little one.”

Gen 1.0 – The Beginning

“Look, Belle, I just think we need to go separate ways. It’s nothing personal, it’s just–”

“I know you’re breaking up with me for her, just admit it.” I tried to keep a stoic expression, but I knew the floodgates would burst soon.

“Just get me out of this place please!”
He banged on the door, “Belle, please get out of there, don’t be difficult.”

“Don’t tell me what to do! Go away please, I want to be alone.”

“Just remember you can call me whenever you want, Belle. I still want to be friends.”

Yeah, sure you do James. I prayed that one day I would be in a better place and then everything went black.

“Did I hit my head on the toilet? Why is the room a different color? Why do I feel weird?!?”

“This is an awful, terrible dream.” I smacked myself a couple times, “Wake up, Belle! Come on WAKE UP!” I frowned at my reflection. My eyes were white, my hair was white, everything was white.  It looked so different compared to the color splashed on the bathroom walls.

“Well if I’m stuck in this dream I might as well figure out where I am.”

“Hey new girl!” called the blue haired girl.

“Hi. Where am I?” I asked sheepishly. A huge grin grew on her face.

“You’re in Sweets Valley, welcome!”

My jaw dropped, “No. NO! This is not Sweets Valley. My great great grandfather Jonathan P. Sweets founded Sweets Valley, and it is not nearly this colorful.

She smiled at me and squinted her eyes, “This is Sweets Valley. 200 years after you went missing. You’re in our text books at school, Belle Sweets.  That’s how I know you. You were last seen June 3, 2011 by James Keshan in the bathroom of this very same park.”

“I need to sit down.”

“So how did Sweets Valley end up like this? It’s so bizarre.”

“After you went missing, 2 months after to be exact, there was a leak at the Science Lab. It leaked a gas that slowly changed the genetics and colors of everything around it. It changed everything except some buildings and people are still not sure why those didn’t change.”

“And how am I here?”

She shrugged her shoulders, “Your guess is as good as mine.”

I had a sudden knot in my stomach, “I think I’m going to be sick.”
